I made this series of work based on the plight of displaced people around the world in 2009-2010. Since then, the situation has got so so much worse..and now I am making new work about these desperate situations.
I have been concerned about the IDP’s of Myanmar since 2001 when I lived in Chiang Mai in Thailand. At that point, the refugees were victims of ethnic cleansing on the eastern border of Myanmar, today we are watching as the Rohingya are being forced westwards into Bangladesh.
This work tried to reflect the situation that many millions of people around the world are facing – being ‘displaced’ from your home is something we all hope we will never experience, yet the situation in Syria has brought it all so much closer.
